Our Party is Non-Interventionist. Non-interventionism is different from "Isolationism".
Non-Interventionism respects the principle of National Sovereignty and Self-Determination for all nations. We support diplomatic engagement and trade with all nations. However, we advocate staying out of their foreign conflicts unless our country or interests are directly threatened or attacked.
We are guided by the words of Lord Palmerston:
"We have no eternal allies, and we have no perpetual enemies. Our interests are eternal and perpetual, and those interests it is our duty to follow."
From a speech by Henry Temple, Lord Palmerston (Prime Minister, 1855-8,
1859-65) when he was Foreign Secretary, in the House of Commons, 1 March 1848.
We support our brave servicemen and women, whose purpose is the defence of our country, not fighting endless foreign wars for foreign interests.
In this regard, we are opposed to the Iran War, and Britain's involvement.
We see Britain's involvement as a direct consequence of our national political subservience to the Israel-US axis and its strategy for domination in the Middle East.
A country which subserviently involves itself in another country's war is not a sovereign country.
POLICY: When elected, our MSPs will use our public profile in the Scottish Parliament to campaign for peace with Iran, and to oppose British military bases, and civilian airfields including Prestwick, being used for the interests of the Israel-US axis.
Britain must use our not-inconsiderable diplomatic and military leverage to develop an independent foreign and security policy agenda, which is free from the dangerous and unstable whims of the Israel-US axis.
GUIDING PRINCIPLES for DIPLOMACY and MILITARY ACTION
National Security comes from Developing Friendships, or, at least, Civil Relations, between all countries for mutual benefit. Real lasting security comes from developing such connections with all countries and avoiding conflict, not from belligerence and provocation, which only creates enemies and endangers us all. In this sense, the art of statecraft – as in our own lives – is about developing friendships and maintaining peace in our world. When our politicians fall out with countries, or put us in harms way, or when we as individuals hold onto anger and hatred, we make our world more dangerous.
War will Always Displace People, regardless of who "wins" or "loses". This is a simple fact of war, as surely as night follows day. Many of these asylum seekers will end up on our doorstep. Therefore, those of us who want to stop the flow of asylum seekers into our country should be opposed to conflict and should work to maintain peaceful circumstances, as a matter of principle.
Defence Spending should only occur in the Presence of Clear National Principles and Purposes. Spending billions of pounds on "defence" only to allow our military to be used in the service of the belligerent purposes of foreign countries and the interests of others, is the height of financial and physical self-destruction. Defence spending should occur only in the presence of the clear national principles and purposes explained herein.
We must know the basis upon which we are making such expenditure. Otherwise we may be spending billions simply to risk our expensive military, and our precious lives, being co-opted for the service of foreign nations by their agents who exercise undue influence within our political and media systems. The obvious example is Britain's subservience to the Israel-US axis.
British Armed Forces are for the National Interest not a Foreign Interest. Our Forces are for the defence of British national interests, at home and abroad, which includes our people wherever they may be, our territory and borders, and our vital strategic interests worldwide. We should not be involved in any foreign wars for foreign causes!
Containment and Deterrence before Armed Conflict. Armed conflict is unnecessary when a threat is effectively contained or deterred. An uneasy peace is always better than war.
Armed Conflict only when there is Clear and Present Danger to the National Interest.
In the Event of Armed Conflict, the Aim must be Clear, and Possible to Achieve, and there must be a Safe Exit-Strategy.
Furthermore, our policy of "No Foreign Wars for Foreign Causes" would decrease the risk of terrorism in the UK; and also decrease the number of asylum seekers who are being pushed out of the Middle East and into Europe and the UK.
