SUPPORT THE NORTH EAST RAIL CAMPAIGN
The Buchan coast is inaccessible by rail. The line connecting Fraserburgh and Peterhead to Aberdeen was closed to passengers under the Beeching Reports of the 1960s, and closed to freight in 1979. These two towns are officially the largest towns furthest from a railway anywhere in Britain!
Opening the line and incorporating new routes, at least to freight in the short-term, and to passengers thereafter, will boost economic development, job opportunities, tourism, social inclusion, health outcomes, access to education, and environmental sustainability.
The ability of people to access Aberdeen will also help the city economically.

This seems much more of a necessity when considered within Fraserburgh Harbour's expansion plan. See fraserburgh-harbour.co.uk/harbour-masterplan/
CAP RURAL BUS FARES
Capped bus fares is a good idea, especially in rural areas where people without cars depend upon public transport. However, like everything, these will have to be funded from elsewhere.
We advocate that capped bus fares in certain areas could be part-funded by a tax on Recreational Vehicles (RVs) in those areas.
Generally, people who can afford to run RVs can afford to pay an additional tax when they enter certain rural areas, or travel particular roads (such as the North Coast 500) – especially since such people are saving money on over-night accommodation.
